Dana has lost 60 pounds to reach her goal weight!
She has maintained that loss for 2 years. Read more about her below.
I am a 30 year old, married, a mom of four and I work full time. I
have lost 60lbs. I have maintained this weight loss for almost two years.
My story goes like this....
I lost the weight from my last pregnancy in
1995. I maintained a healthy weight for myself until I married my current
husband in 1997. He has two children - I have two children. We have
custody of all four. I went from cooking for three to cooking for 6. My
husband is military and traveled a lot right after we first married. I had
all of the children to take care of (and cook for). My exercise stopped and
I began to eat whenever and whatever I could. Thus I gained 50 pounds.
I
went in for my yearly weigh in with my Army National Guard Unit in 1999. I
was horrified. I had gained 50 lbs and I was placed on a weight control
program with the ARMY. My husband and all our buddies were there to
witness this as well. (ARMY weigh in = You stand in a line, take your turn
on the scale and your last name and weight is called out to the person
writing down - loudly.) I knew I had gained weight but not that much. I was
in tears. I am Part time National Guard my husband is Full Time National
Guard.
Shortly after that weigh in my husband was leaving for a full time
school (8weeks long) and our kids were leaving to spend 3 weeks with my
parents (across state). I decided to start my weight loss effort then.
After all, I knew how to exercise and eat right. Well, it took me about 6
months to lose the weight. But after two months (when my hubby got home) I
had lost enough that people started noticing and commenting on it. That
just helped me keep motivated. My husband was great! He started learning
to cook healthy. This helped me because I had help cooking so I had more
time to dedicate to my special needs. Also he encouraged me the entire
way. He would go to the mall when I dropped a size and buy a new outfit
that he thought I would look sexy in and bring it home as a surprise. He
is an AWESOME MAN all the way around. (Wonderful husband, father and lover)
He bought me a bikini this past summer as a surprise. He also encouraged me
when I wanted to have breast implants after my weight loss to give my body
some balance.... I haven't regretted that decision either.
I found the
getting2goal website about 1/2 through my weight loss journey and I have
told everyone about it. It is a great tool for weight loss and I have
enjoyed reading the success stories - they were very motivating! Thanks
for everything!
My info:
5ft 6 inches
before weight 170lbs. (+/-2lbs)
current weight 110lbs. (+/-2lbs)
